Kid Fox, born Steven Kiggundu and also known as King Steven, is a Ugandan veteran dancehall, reggae and ragga musician who became prominent during the rise of Uganda’s early dancehall scene in the 1990s and 2000s.

Kid Fox began his musical journey while studying at Wairaka College in Jinja, initially performing rap in the school’s drama club. He later developed his sound toward ragga and reggae, becoming one of the artists associated with Uganda’s early local dancehall movement.

His breakthrough came through songs such as “Wololo,” “Love Is a Good Feeling,” “Rumours,” “Brothers and Sisters,” “Nimechoka,” and “Ezinunula.” His music was known for combining dancehall and reggae influences with English, Luganda, Swahili and Jamaican patois.

In 2000, Kid Fox released his album Wololo, followed later by Zinunula, a 10-track album featuring songs including “Night and Day,” “Rumours,” “Kukiriza,” “Uganda” and “Fed Up.”

His 2007 song “Nimechoka” became one of his notable releases and earned him nominations for PAM Awards and the KISIMA Awards. He also collaborated with established Ugandan artists, including Bebe Cool on “Kapere.”

Beyond music, Kid Fox pursued higher education, graduating from Makerere University in 2001 and later obtaining legal training from the Law Development Centre in 2003.

Kid Fox remains remembered as one of the early figures in Uganda’s dancehall and ragga movement, with a catalogue that helped shape the country’s developing urban music scene. His songs continue to be associated with the golden era of Ugandan dancehall and reggae.
